The new Carlisle United winger should play some part against Sam Allardyce's Premiership superstars including Joey Barton, Oba Martins and Kieron Dyer (Brunton Park, 3pm).

And 17-year-old Dalton, who signed a two-year deal with the Blues despite strong interest from the Championship, can't wait to take on some of the biggest names in English football.

"I'm used to playing against Conference North players," said Dalton. "So the chance to play against internationals is very exciting.

"Maybe I'll have a good midfield battle with Joey Barton."

A crowd of around 10,000 is expected at Brunton Park for the most high-profile friendly for years for United, who will be led by newly-appointed club captain Paul Thirlwell.

It is a world away from Dalton's experiences with Scarborough, who went bust after their last-ever game - a 1-0 win at Hucknall Town in front of 646 supporters.

"I think the crowd will just add to the adrenaline and push me on," said Dalton, who became the Seadogs' youngest ever goalscorer last term.

"I'm delighted to be here. I'd been on a few trials and Sheffield United and Leicester City wanted me back, but Carlisle just felt right.

"It was disappointing what happened to Scarborough, but you've got to look after yourself and find another club."
