Fabricio Coloccini is confident that Newcastle United can cope with the loss of three players during the African Cup of Nations.
Mehdi Abeid, Papiss Cisse and Cheick Tiote will all jet out for the competition in Equatorial Guinea after the game with Burnley on New Year’s Day.
Fabricio Coloccini told the Chronicle: “Now we have a bigger squad.
“We have great players on the bench as well. We have Manu Riviere and Ayo is doing brilliant as well. We have Remy Cabella too.
“There a few good players to come in.
“I think the most important thing was to get the result and we did that. We will get the confidence from that.
“We lost that on the field in the last few games.
“We came on to the pitch with ambition to win the game. Then we were 1-0 down. It was difficult but after that we played well.
“We had many chances to score. We could have scored a few more goals as well.”
