He told the Evening Chronicle: "I could not be more delighted that Michael has signed a new contract.
"He is a good lad who wants to learn and he is going to be a big player for Newcastle United.
"He scores a lot of goals and this has got to be good for us whether it is this season, next season or some time in the future.
"There is no doubt Michael will score goals at the top level because he has that knack of being in the right place at the right time.
"He will have a big future - and in two or three years he might eventually be the man to replace me.
"He is not physically strong yet - but the strength will come."
Sir Bobby had more praise for the starlet, commenting: "Michael has started the new season with a bang for the reserves. He has justifiably forced his way into the first-team picture.
"He is more slightly built than Wayne Rooney, but he is a player we are very excited about nonetheless.
"He has a great eye for goal, he is learning about which runs to make, to hold the ball up and he is never afraid to put his foot in. We like him very much."
Lets hope that Michael gets a chance for the first team soon, the Worthington Cup tie against Everton would be an ideal opportunity to try him out.
And we’d all love to see Chopra versus Rooney part 1.
