Allardyce was appointed manager at St James' Park under Freddy Shepherd's regime, but within two weeks billionaire businessman Mike Ashley had launched a takeover bid for the club.
Allardyce Happy With Board Room 'Relationship'
Allardyce: "I wasn't over concerned about the takeover. Obviously you wonder whether you can get on with them or not, but I didn't have to stand my ground.
"At this stage I'm getting on fine with Mike Ashley and (chairman) Chris Mort and the more we talk, hopefully the better the relationship will become.
"When you have been in the game as long I have, you learn to adjust and adapt.
"I haven't anything to worry about have I? I'm an established Premier League manager.
"It sounds big-headed, but I know I'm good at what I do."
