Defeat at the Reebok Stadium could all but seal Hull's fate if results elsewhere involving Sunderland and Newcastle go against them.
Brown, a former Bolton captain, also learnt his trade as a coach under former Wanderers boss Allardyce.
As for the irony of training at Allardyce's Blackburn ahead of a game at Bolton, Brown said: "It was a case of the closest training ground, we were up in the Lakes.
"There is no real irony or twist. At the end of the day it is a piece of grass and he has lent us a football pitch.
"I feel as if it is the biggest challenge of my life.
"People have been labelling 'must-win' games all season and now all of a sudden we find ourselves in a must-win situation.
"We have got to bring our best game to the table to make sure we carry the season on to another week.
"How we have got to this stage is obviously the key topic but I take great pride in what we have achieved this season.
"We are not in a tremendous vein of form but we have certainly got a fighting chance. That is all I have asked for.
"I don't see the nerves getting to the players. They know what it at stake, none more so than the likes of Nicky Barmby.
"He is a Hull boy and knows exactly what is at stake, I know exactly what is at stake.
"If the Hull City players don't know what is at stake they shouldn't be playing for Hull City.
"It has been a long season and a massive learning curve but we are still two years ahead of schedule and that won't change come the end of the season.
"Gary's teams are always at full tilt. He demands the best from his players and I don't think for one minute they will be thinking about a beach and taking their foot off the gas.
"I think Gary will be as driven as he always is on the sidelines. I am not expecting any favours by any stretch of the imagination."
