When asked "do you think the Newcastle job was too big for you", the ex-Bolton boss snapped back "utter rubbish"!
Allardyce: "The size of a club is the fan base, not the actual club itself. And I believe Newcastle is a big club, but to suggest the fans did not like me is rubbish.
"I believe they did like me, but circumstances dictated the outcome.
"I left Bolton because they could not match my ambitions. I though Newcastle could.
"I told them (Ashley and Mort) that the job would take three to five years, and were they happy with that? They said they were, at that time, but obviously not."
