Kinnear was appointed director of football at St James’ Park in June but became a laughing stock after a series of outspoken gaffes, including calling star midfielder Yohan Cabaye – Yohan Kebab.
The 66-year-old’s arrival also cast doubt over the future of manager Alan Pardew, who insisted he was “open-minded” about working under his new boss.
And Hammers chief Allardyce, a former Toon manager himself, reckons Kinnear only has himself to blame for the controversy.
“I was very surprised,” said Big Sam. “He could have made life easier for them all if he had not made the public statements.
“That was something he should have sorted out internally between themselves, not making a public statement.”
