MLS star Miguel Almiron has touched down after arriving in Tyneside by helicopter ahead of his £21million transfer to newcastle, according to Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie.
He will take a medical ahead of a move that will smash the transfer record set by Michael Own in 2005.
Personal terms are still to be agreed but look like being a formality.
Downie made the claim on his personal Twitter page on Wednesday afternoon.
Newcastle fans have plenty to celebrate at the moment but they won’t be counting this particular chicken until it’s hatched and there’s a photo with Rafa Benitez’s arm around the player.
There’s still plenty that can go wring and Newcastle fans won’t need reminding after a failed medical put paid to Jordan Lukaku’s move earlier this month.
However, presuming that he passes his medical, Almiron will be announced as a Newcastle player and then we’ll find out whether he can reproduce his stunning MLS form in the Premier League.
