.... Newcastle United’s unlikely goalkeeping hero Jak Alnwick is interesting Queens Park Rangers.
The London club invited him to train with them before he got his chance at St James’ Park, and even though he has only played 45 minutes of league football (at any level) ... they want to see more of him.
The 21-year-old’s contract is up at the end of the season and he will only be FOURTH choice goalkeeper at St James' Park, after Rob Elliot, Karl Darlow and Tim Krul.
Alnwick was taken from Sunderland’s Academy by Newcastle. But with Krul tied down to a long-term contract, United’s goalkeeping situation seems mapped out for the next few years.
He will play against Arsenal on Saturday, Tottenham in the League Cup, Sunderland and Manchester United.
Alan Pardew does not seem to hold the lad in high regards after he went banging on the manager's door in the summer wanting first team football.
He is certainly not lacking in confidence.
Alan Pardew: “Jak is in a contract situation with us. He hasn’t played.
“I don’t know whether he is good enough or not if I am honest. So what are we going to do?”
