Ameobi Going Nowhere!

Not only have Stoke published a statement saying there was no deal cast in stone, but Norwich City boss Glenn Roeder has given up the ghost on the Toon striker and is setting up a deal to sign Derby striker Robert Earnshaw.

With the end of the Premier League the transfer merry-go-round has begun in earnest.

Earnshaw is a name who has been strongly linked with a return to Carrow Road, where he enjoyed a prolific spell before a £3.5million switch to Pride Park last summer.

The Wales international proved a flop in the East Midlands, however, and a £2million bid from an unnamed club has been accepted by the Rams today.
As for Shola Ameobi's transfer to Stoke, the player is having second thoughts because he was dropped after just two games, and Stoke seem to have expected more from him.

Ameobi was brought to the Potteries on a short term deal that Stoke City paid cash for, but now the word from Newcastle United is the deal was binding if the Potters gained promotion.

The Potters insist that is NOT the case.

The Stoke City chairman stated - "It is my understanding that the deal was never binding in the first place. I am not aware of this development being reported, but from our point of view, whether we still want him or not is clearly a footballing decision for the manager to make."
