Anelka Interest Dropped

Turkish side Fenerbahce have insisted that the 26-year-old striker is not for sale and so manager Graeme Souness is to look elsewhere in an effort to boost the Magpies strikeforce.

"We have been requested not to pursue the matter any further and have agreed to do this," chairman Freddie Shepherd has said.

"However, I can assure our supporters we are still actively pursuing other options in the transfer market."
