Wales captain Craig Bellamy believes his team-mates should do their duty for their country without him having to tell them.
Another Blast From Bellamy
Few emerged with any credit from Saturday's shocking defeat in Cyprus, but he still picked up the Man of the Match award for the Welsh, and he feels him team-mates should motivate themselves.
Bellamy will lead out Wales in their next European Championship qualifier against San Marino.
Bellamy: "Do I need to rally the troops? Do I need to motivate players to represent their country? Should a team like Cyprus beat us like that?
"To put on that red shirt and play for your country should be your whole motivation as a player and your personal pride.
"For me as a captain, should I really have to start telling people 'come on, you should do this or that'? They are here to represent their country.
"They should know their duty and what putting on that red shirt should mean to them. We must go out, myself included, and put in a better performance.
"Obviously, everyone has been down and disappointed, but it's a situation that we have found ourselves in before. Certainly in this campaign, we have had to pick ourselves up. We have usually responded.
"It is difficult to be judged against San Marino, but we have to go out and get as many goals as we can and be as positive as we can.
"The boss spoke to a few people on Sunday - he had some one-on-ones with some people. But we were all disappointed with the manner of the defeat - that is probably more the problem.
"It is always easy to question a team's attitude when they have lost, but they (Cyprus) were a better team than us - it was that simple.
"I suppose it's a no-win situation for us. The onus will be on us and they will play very deep, with us having a lot of the ball.
"They are not a good side, but we will have to be patient.
"It would be good to get a goal early on, but looking at Slovakia against them at the weekend, it took them 25 minutes to get their first and they went on to hit seven, and they didn't score in the last 20 minutes.
"The only problem we will have is if we make it difficult for ourselves. The Republic of Ireland struggled here early in the group because they played too slow and made it hard for themselves.
"If we do that, it will be tough. But if we play at a high tempo, pass the ball quickly and work hard, they won't be able to get near us and it will be an easy night."
2001-5 C.Bellamy 119/13 42
Signed from Coventry City in the summer of 2001 for £6m, one year after Bobby Robson tried to sign him from Norwich. Striker who went through a terrible time at Highfield Road, and blamed for Coventry's relegation. But his first season at SJP was remarkable. His injury towards the close of 2001/2 cost United a crack at the title. Made headlines on the front of the newspapers as well as the back for incidents including rascial abuse. Then of course there was the physical battle on the training ground as soon as Graeme Souness arrived at SJP. Souness tried to sell him to Birmingham but he turned it down at the last moment and went on loan to Celtic. Sold to Blackburn Rovers in July 2005 for £5m plus add-ons.
