Another Left-Back Keegan Can Rule Out!
Wayne Bridge has signed a new four-year contract with Chelsea and is now tied up at Stamford Bridge until 2012.
The 27-year-old England international left-back, who according to reports was unsettled at being a back-up for compatriot and Blues team-mate Ashley Cole, told Chelsea TV: "I'm just happy, I love it here, all the lads, staff, everything, so I'm happy to be here, hopefully for the four years."
Blues manager Luiz Felipe Scolari said: "I am very pleased for Wayne that he has committed his future to Chelsea.
"I have been here only a few days, but I have seen that he is one of the best professionals at the club. I very much like his playing style."
But Reading's Nicky Shorey is still in the shop window ... although the £5m asking price has kept the Magpies and Pompey at bay ... so far.
Jose Enrique made 28 appearances last term, but the 22-year-old was warned by Keegan in April that signing another left-back is one of his priorities.
"I've got to sign another left-back, as I've only got one at the club," said Keegan.
"That's not to say I don't fancy Jose, I do, but I need another left-back."
Watch this space ... because Shorey's name is sure to pop up within the week.
Reading are looking to recruit themselves, and as the transfer window nears its close, they could stick their left-back in the bargain bin ... knocking a million off the price.
