Jokes aimed at the Mackems these days are like kicking a dead dog.
The fun has gone.
Joey Barton raised a laugh last week and now KFC are getting in on the act.
Even fast-food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken have directed a jibe at Newcastle United’s rivals.
The outlet started an ‘If Premier League teams were KFC menu items’ thread on Twitter, including a post on Sunderland.
In a rather cheeky post, KFC labelled the Back Cats as one of their ‘Double Down’ burgers in reference the clubs double relegation from the Premier League to League One.
KFC’s rationale? The now special limited-edition burger has ‘not actually been around for a while and probably never coming back.’
That poor dead dog.
