The Newcastle owner showed his face at St James' Park yesterday, having arrived in Newcastle to sort out the sale of land behind the Gallowgate End.
He made it to the match for the first time in about eight months, and Carver said he was pleased to see him.
John Carver: “It was nice. I’ll be asking him for a new contract I think! It’s good that he’s shown his support.
“I take credit for everything today! We (he and Pardew) had a number of conversations, just before half-time and as the game was going on.
“But in fairness, the manager never once said to me ‘we should do this’ or ‘we should do that’. He always gave me an option, some of them we used and some of them we didn’t.
“But like he said during the week, he trusts people and he trusts the staff, and because we’re in the stadium, we can get a sense for a feel of what’s going on and we have to make the final decision, so it works both ways.”
