Daily Star: "The plan is to reduce wages and build a younger team - but that plan clashes with Toon boss Keegan's ideas.
"There is now an uneasy peace and Keegan knows his position is under threat as executive director Dennis Wise leads the hunt for talented young foreign players.
"That, of course, has been the Wenger way.
"Ashley's regime has close connections with Tottenham Hotspur but it's the policy of their great north London rivals, Arsenal, that is seen as the way forward by the Newcastle hierarchy.
"And Keegan will have to accept that if he wants to remain in his job."
Keegan: "While Everton have been successful this year and did quite well in the UEFA Cup until they were knocked out by Fiorentina, it did start to catch up with them.
"They picked up injuries to players they couldn't afford to lose.
"David Moyes has done a good job and made fantastic signings in the likes of Yakubu, Joleon Lescott and Phil Jagielka.
"But despite the fact they have a decent-size squad, it's made fifth place now a real fight for them.
"When I came back here, I asked the owner what he wanted for his club. He said, 'I'd like to win a trophy in the next three years' - that could be the Carling Cup.
"Spurs have had a great season because they won the Carling Cup. The cups have even become regular visitors to the trophy rooms of Manchester United and Chelsea."
