Ashley Will Not Be Offering Owen A Deal!
We can confirm contract talks for the Newcastle skipper have been "put on hold".
Three weeks ago United announced that they had offered Owen a three-year deal with improved terms, but that has been questioned by many.
Owen's advisors claim the last firm offer they received was for a one-year extension to the contract at a basic wage of £85,000 per week.
The Chronicle claim a source close to the Owen camp said: "Michael's representatives would not let him sign any new deal in the present circumstances at St James's Park."
Owen is free to talk to any club in January.
