At Least Barton Keeps The Yanks Off The Front Page!

Yes the Yanks love a drama, and they have milked their election for a full year!

With one statitician claiming half America has an IQ below 30 ... it's hardly surprising they've had a president below 20 ... and they now fancy a change.

But ... FOR GOD'S SAKE ... do WE need to get involved with a country who's only contribution to the civilised work is the hamburger!

But we can praise Joey for taking the top story.

According to the London media, "the main talking point after the final whistle was not the 2-0 victory and three huge points for the Tyneside club, but a first-half incident in which Barton had flicked out a hand at Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor".

Obviously that reporter was not at St James' Park, because 99% of the fans who WERE there, didn't give it a second thought.

But the very fact it was Joey Barton will have the newspapers full of hatred towards the Scouser this morning.

Referee Steve Bennett simply spoke to the player, who was later booked for a foul on Luke Young, but Setanta brought it to the attention of the television public, to leave the 26-year-old, who has a six-game suspended ban hanging over his head, facing an anxious wait to see if there are repercussions.

Chris Hughton: "One thing we are aware of is that any incident regarding Joey is going to be blown up twice as much as it's going to be with any other player.

"But as regards to what that was, I am not aware.

"All we can ask of him is to put in the performances he has done for us since he has been back. He is a very short way into his period back with us.

"All of those things, he is aware of."

Villa boss Martin O'Neill was happy to play down the incident.

After all ... no bones were broken in the incident ... no-one died ... and Barack Obama said: "Give me your vote and I'll be along to Newcastle to watch their next soccer match and sample their burgers. God bless America!"

Asked if it had affected Agbonlahor's performance, O'Neill said: "It would have done if he had had to pick his nose up from the ground.

"It probably would have if he couldn't smell or couldn't breathe. It might have been a problem."

Sadly, O'Neill would not comment on Barack Obama's policies to get all Yanks to snub the work "soccer" and cal it "football".
