Christian Atsu is pushing for a place in United's starting line-up after going on as a substitute at Wigan in midweek and scoring the crucial second goal in a 2-0 success.
If he plays at the Pirelli Stadium, it will be the 100th league game of Atsu's career, but 33 of them have been as a substitute - and the Ghana international is now keen to establish a regular first team place.
Whether it will be at Newcastle remains to be seen, although they have a option to sign him permanently when his loan from Chelsea finishes at the end of the season.
Atsu said:”It is their decision at the end of the season. I’m just here to play football and keep working hard.
"But I'm settled. I'm relaxed with my friends, the coaches and everyone, and also with the fans. I'm very happy here in Newcastle.
"Every year I keep moving on loan to different clubs. It is not easy, and I'm looking to settle. For me, I need to keep working hard.
“The most important thing, though, is to keep focused on what we want to do in the Championship."
Benitez is pleased with Atsu's progress this season, but will delay a decision on his future. “It’s still too soon. We have to wait,” he said. “But he is a nice lad who trains really well and I’m happy with him.”
