The 25-year-old was arrested in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of December 27, 2007 following a confrontation outside a McDonald's restaurant.
He admitted the charges last month but reporting restrictions were only lifted today at Liverpool crown court, where he was sentenced.
And there is worse to come ... he faces ANOTHER charge of assault on a team-mate when he was a Manchester City player.
Some suggest he could get FIVE years in total if found guilty.
He spoke to Gabby Logan on TV's 'Inside Sport' and said "God is watching over me and leading me".
Obviously he was missing when the judge passed sentence!
