Barton has publicly derided Newcastle's 'upper echelons' on a number of occasions and again turned to his favourite medium, Twitter, after being angered by the club's failure to spend the majority of the money recouped from the sales of Andrew Carroll, Kevin Nolan and Jose Enrique.
Joey Barton: "Nice to see MA [Ashley] and DL [Llambias] come through with their promise to reinvest AC [Andy] money, 59m net profit from transfers in last 5 seasons.....ambition???
"... feel sorry for Geordie nation, them 2 nuggets don't deserve that club or it's following. Am sure they think people r stupid.
"If only we as players could tell the fans exactly how it is, without them above fining us lots of money.
"And again it would be left to those magnificent fans to pick up the remnants of their once great football club. #hadenoughofcertainpeople.
"If I wanted to leave, I'd just come out and say I want to leave. Things need addressing as am not prepared to go through a relegation again.
"Somewhere in those high echelons of NUFC, they have decided, I am persona non grata. I am on a free but the honour of wearing those B+W stripes, surpasses that. One day the board might realise, what the shirt signifies. HONOUR and PRIDE.
"The club is allowing all the major players of the team to go. Do you think it is the fault of the players? Andy (Carroll), Nobby (Kevin Nolan).
"This club will never fight to be among the top six again with this policy. You fans are the best and you deserve the best, not what they are doing with the club."
