Now Barton is facing another FA investigation after he took a swipe at Henry last night by labelling the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder a 'Sunday league player' after getting the better of their latest battle.
Henry angered Barton with some heavy challenges during a clash between Wolves and Newcastle United last season, and then aimed a verbal dig at the then Magpies player.
But Barton had the better afternoon this weekend, scoring for his new club Queens Park Rangers in a 3-0 win over Wolves at Molineux.
Barton wrote on Twitter after the match: "I bet u Kelvin [sic] Henry feels like an idiot again today. He should just keep his trap firmly shut. #sundayleagueplayer"
Barton also questioned the thinking of Wolves manager Mick McCarthy who said in the build-up to the match that every team 'from Kuwait to Kuala Lumpur to Kansas City to Wolverhampton' had been offered the midfielder as his spell at Newcastle came to an end.
Barton wrote: "'Wolves snubbed me' I read in this morning papers hahahahahaha....don't know what Mick's been smoking......"
