Ashley's decision to put Newcastle United up for sale has effectively ended his trips to St James' Park and mixing with the Toon Army.
He fears for his safety, and will no longer be seen in the company of the Geordies.
After telling us two weeks ago Newcastle United was "a business and I will run it like one", then seeing Kevin Keegan walk out, he said "I never intended to make money out of Newcastle United and I bought the club because I am a football fan".
Then it was "a business" again, then he issued a statement last night telling us of his trip to watch England(?) and we couldn't figure out what point he was trying to make!
But he will end up with a profit, make to mistake, and let's be honest ... that was the plan right from the start!
The man is a bare-faced liar!
But now we need to worry for the short-term, because he has sent the club back to square one in his search for Kevin Keegan's successor and left caretaker Chris Hughton primed for an extended spell in charge.
Be A MAN Ashley - Face The Questions!
With Keegan set for a return under a new owner, what happens from now until Ashley gets his money?
The vacant post is a poisoned chalice - with the incoming manager facing the daunting task of winning over supporters still fiercely loyal to the deposed manager - and knowing they are only keeping the manager's seat warm for Keegan.
Ashley is unlikely to find a buyer in the short-term, but as long as he is prepared to listen to offers for the club, any manager that he appoints has little future.
