Beardsley took temporary charge in February after Willie Donachie resigned.
Peter Beardsley: “Nobody has said a word to me about staying on, but I absolutely love it.
“I enjoyed assisting Willie, who was top class.
“I’d obviously be delighted to be in charge, if that is to be the case.
“Whatever they want me to do at this football club, I’ll do it.
“The owner (Mike Ashley) and manager (Alan Pardew) have been top class.
“I’m a bit more relaxed. It’s not all about winning.
“Don’t get me wrong, there are times when you want to win – like in the Senior Cup.
“We’re trying to marry the two together.”
