Beardsley set for Pools move?

Last updated : 07 July 2003 By Martyn Elliott

Having been moved from his job as Academy coach to a role in public relations at St James’ Park after being cleared of any wrongdoing by a FA Premier League inquiry into supposed bullying, Beardsley is set to be offered the post of youth team coach at Victoria Park.

Pools chairman Ken Hodcroft is reported to have already spoken to Freddy Shepherd about the move and has been granted permission to speak to Beardsley, who enjoyed a spell at Victoria Park towards the end of his playing career.

If he does take the job Beardsley will be working alongside another ex-Newcastle player Paul Stephenson, who recently became Pools’ Under-16 coach after retiring at the end of last season.
