Rumours of a move to Manchester United have circulated for the past 12 months and the Sunday Express recently suggested that he was on his way out of St James’ Park, but the Welshman claims there is no truth in any of it.
"I have a four-year contract at Newcastle taking me to 2007. I really enjoy it here," he told The Mirror.
"It is a wonderful stage and I am playing for a exceptional club with the best fans.
"I really am proud to be part of it and being here helps my performances. I feed off the stage and the atmosphere - that is what kind of player I am.
"I am playing for a top manager, a legend in the game, and alongside Alan Shearer up front, another legend and great bloke.
"It is perfect. Both me as a player and the club are not quite at our peaks. I want to get there and know what I have to do and Newcastle as a club is the same. We want to get to Manchester United and Arsenal.
"Being part of the journey to the top at Newcastle and making it happen is the big thing for me. I know it will take a while, but I want to be here when that first trophy happens, because that will be unbelievable."
