The Wales striker is charged with one count of using words or behaviour likely to cause racially aggravated harassment, alarm or distress and two counts of racially aggravated intentional harassment.
The news came during a short hearing at Cardiff Magistrates Court today and the cases were then adjourned until July 10.
Whatever the truth of the matter the club could really have done without a player facing charges of this nature on the day that Lee Bowyer officially signed-up.
