"In the last three (premier league) games against Everton, Aston Villa and Southampton, Craig has behaved impeccably and in fact I have seen a change in him and I have actually complimented him on that," Robson told a press conference on Thursday.
"He has shown greater allegiance to the cause and I like that, but he is having to live with the consequences of his actions and that is something we all have to learn about in European (competition).
"It is a shame because I just feel that, with respect, Bayer Leverkusen was maybe the team that we could get points from -- fractionally easier, with respect, than the other two teams.
"We are going to miss Craig Bellamy in both games which is a great shame but we have to learn from that.
"It is something that we have to accept and I would not for one moment think of advising Craig to appeal against the ban.
"I would not say (the Materazzi incident) was innocuous because it wasn't. It merited a red card and this is where Craig has got to learn. It was a dismissal and is worth a three-game (ban). It might have been more but I think that three is about right."
Lets hope Sir Bobby is right and Bellamy has learnt his lesson this time.
