The Welshman points to the example of Manchester United’s 26-year wait to win the league title to support his belief that a golden era could be just around the corner.
"I think once we get the one trophy, even if it is just the Worthington Cup, more will follow,” he told The Journal.
"If you look at the Manchester United lads, they finally won the league after 26 years or something and everything suddenly clicked into place. The same can happen here. If we get the first one out of the way I think it will start a snowball effect.
"This is an exciting club. We've got a young squad who want to and will improve. I think we're all looking forward to the start of the season, I know I am."
