Craig Bellamy could be set to take his first job in football management.
One of the stars of Sir Bobby Robson’s Newcastle United team, Bellamy is now favourite for the vacancy at Oxford United.
They sacked manager Pep Clotet on 22 January and are still to appoint a replacement.
In the meantime, Derek Fazackerley has stepped up from being Assistant Manager to Caretaker boss.
The same Derek Fazackerley who was Kevin Keegan’s head coach at Newcastle United back in the 90s.
Craig Bellamy the odds on 4/6 favourite and Fazackerley third favourite at 5/1. As caretaker boss he has overseen one league game, an excellent 3-2 win at Charlton on Saturday gone.
This leaves Oxford United in 10th place in League One, only seven points off the play-offs.
Former Sunderland boss Simon Grayson is a distant fourth favourite at 25/1, along with more exotic names in Frank Lampard and Paul Ince.
Betting to be next Oxford Manager:
4/6 Craig Bellamy
4/1 Michael Beale
5/1 Derek Fazackerley
25/1 Simon Grayson
25/1 Paul Ince
25/1 Frank Lampard
33/1 Neil Lennon
