The 28-year-old was left out in the cold in January when he was told he was not allowed to play for Nice this season – because he had already featured for Newcastle's Under-21 side and Hull.
He has been without a club ever since and is said to have even considered retirement from the game after being left upset by the Fifa rules which stipulate a player cannot represent three clubs in the same season.
But now French newspaper L'Equipe are reporting that Ben Arfa could be offered a route back into football by Al Jazeera with his representatives currently discussing a potential deal.
Eric Gerets is currently in charge at the Arabian Gulf League side and knows all about Ben Arfa after managing him during his time in charge at Marseille.
