Nabil Bentaleb spoke to the club's website after the game but couldn't quite hear the questions.
Newcastle United fans sang their hearts out well after full-time - and the reaction of midfielder Nabil Bentaleb during a post-game interview summed up the scenes perfectly.
The 24-year-old completed another 90 minutes as he looks to impress enough to turn his loan move from Schalke into a permanent deal.
Asked to speak to the club's website after the game, Bentaleb was clearly taken aback by the volume of the away end.
Having been asked about the performance, Bentaleb began answering before pointing to his ear, and smiling - 'this is crazy,' he said.
"We knew it was not going to be easy and we fought really well.
"At the end we lacked a little bit of concentration, and that got them a little bit into the game.
"But we did well and fought until the end to get the victory.
"It's never easy when you go away in the cup, it's always hard.
"They're going to fight for their lives.
"But that's what we did - we did fight for our lives until the end of the game and we managed to go through."
More than 5,000 fans filled the away end, and as usual made themselves heard with several chants.
Asked about the fans, Bentaleb said: "From the start to end - they were unbelievable
"I am really proud to play for this club - and really proud to go into the quarter-final, and we can give them something back."
It's the first time in 15 years that United have made into the FA Cup quarter final as they look to win the trophy for the first time since 1955.
