NEWCASTLE UTD RES 4 MAN CITY RES 3

In an amazing match on Tuesday evening, Lee Clark's Reserve side were 3-0 down after 26 minutes against Manchester City, yet recovered to take the points 4-3. With six minutes to go they were still trailing 3-1, but three goals at the death turned defeat into victory.

Ben Mee scored on seven minutes; Ched Evans' hit a 25-yard drive past Cook on 11 minutes, and he made it 3-0 with a second on 26 minutes.

United replied with goals from Phil Cave (41), Finnigan (84), Paul Huntington (86), and David Edgar in injury time.

Clark: "I was keen for the referee to blow the half-time whistle after they scored a third because we looked very vulnerable and I just wanted to get the lads together again. On the plus side, we looked very good with the ball - but in football you need to work on both sides of the game.

"I am happy with the outcome. I thought after 15 minutes I was going to be facing the highest reserve team defeat in the history of the club!"

Olivier Bernard played for 76 minutes.

UNITED: Cook, Bertram, Bernard (Kazenga LuaLua 76), Doninger (Atkin 64), Huntington, Edgar, Troisi, Pattison, Finnigan, Carroll, Cave.
