"Defensively we were pretty magnificent and Jermaine Jenas and Gary Speed in midfield were massive.
"If we do as well in those areas and better in the attacking third against Feyenoord on Wednesday, we should get the result we need.
"We were a bit unfortunate to come to Arsenal when they had a point to prove after a poor couple of results.
"But we didn't get belted, we never gave up and fought like tigers all afternoon.
"The back four, who have looked a bit vulnerable and have taken some criticism, held firm against the best attacking team in the country.
"Having said that, I'm a little disappointed we didn't conjure something out of the match.
"But our flank play was poor and we didn't make enough chances to deserve a point because they were clearly the better side.
"Vieira was awesome. Gary Speed has just said that he is the best midfielder he has ever played against."
Arsene Wenger
"Patrick was great and Sol (Campbell) deserves a lot of credit because he told me after the warm up that he was not 100 per cent ready to come back.
"He played with back pain and he played well.
"We played very well as a team and played very solidly.
"At the end of the game they had not had one shot on target and against a team like Newcastle that represents a very good performance.
"It can happen that one mistake at the back kills you when you lead only 1-0 and with somebody like Alan Shearer around that is always a worry.
"But they all played well today."
