The friendly makes up part of United’s extensive pre-season schedule, which will also see a four-team tournament taking place at St James’ Park.
No teams are yet confirmed for the tournament, but United are reported to be trying to attract some of Europe’s top clubs to the event.
A match at Parkhead in front of a 60,000 crowd is certainly something to look forward to, but before you start up the old ‘Battle of Britain’ debates it would be wise to remember Celtic have got an outstanding recent record against English clubs in such games.
