France and ex-United defender Jean-Alain Boumsong spent arguably the happiest period of his career in Scotland playing for Rangers, and on Saturday hailed the Tartan Army as the greatest fans on the planet.
Boumsong: "The atmosphere in Scotland is maybe the best in the world. It's an extra something, it's the 12th man.
"It's a good improvement but Scotland have to play like that every game. It's a long way to qualify. If they stay humble and they work hard they will be able to take on the top teams."
Boumsong took the place of the injured William Gallas and he failed to cope with a teasing long ball by Darren Fletcher that James McFadden latched on to before slicing wide early in the second half.
But the 26-year-old defender looked more composed than he did in a black and white shirt and the move to Juventus is obviously better for all concerned.
