Lee Bowyer was set for talks with Charlton Athletic boss Alan Curbishley this week, but apparently the deal looks set to be put on ice, depending on the money available when the January transfer windows opens.
The Charlton gaffa will not get the amount of money he previously thought,
and to add to the confusion Pompey look set to try and sign Amdy Faye (that story elsewhere on this page). If Faye moves on ... Bowyer's hopes of a return to LOndon look to be dashed.
According to Souness, Bowyer wants a move back to his native London in the transfer window, but the player refuses to add petrol to the flames by asking for a transfer.
He has already been warned about his outburst against Freddy Shepherd earlier in the year when he blasted back at comments that the chairman wanted him to stay at the club.
"He's tried to sell me twice already!" said the ex-Leeds midfielder.
