Yohan Cabaye believes his former club Newcastle United will be making a mistake if they offload Hatem Ben Arfa this summer.
Ben Arfa is being lined up for a move away from St James' Park by Alan Pardew with the club apparently willing to listen to offers.
After being frozen out of the first team by Pardew following a bust-up in training, the 27-year-old midfielder play maker is on the verge of an exit from Newcastle.
Cabaye: "I have not talked to him (about a departure).
"This is a situation that he must manage on his side. For me, he remains an extraordinary player with enormous quality.
"It is true that it was harder for him late in the season. He is going to bounce back and find more opportunities with another team.
"Should Ben Arfa return to France it would only strengthen the domestic league."
