Calderwood joined United's coaching staff last season during Joe Kinnear's spell in charg, after taking Forest on the worst start to a season since Robin Hood roamed Sherwood Forest.
Seen as a bit of a 'Jona', he was released by Newcastle in the wake of last season's relegation, but the 44-year-old rejoined the club pre-season on a week-to-week contract to assist Hughton while efforts continue to sell the club.
Colin Calderwood: "I think everybody wanted to start the season well, and I don't think it has ever been so important for a club to start well like we have.
"For a club that was in our situation it had to be a positive start, and everybody on the playing side's feeling good about themselves.
"They're buoyant and confident, and that's the good side of it.
"The realisation, though, is that this is only a small period of the season so far."
