I'm sure everyone knows the latest on the Ripper hoax, and John Humble from Castleside has been arrested and will appear before Leeds magistrates charged with perverting the course of justice.
However, one Newcastle website www.TalkOfTheTyne.net remembers when

Wearside Jack was actually called "Geordie Jack" back in 1979 and Toon fans sang "The Ripper is a Geordie" at home and away games around that time.
