The former Ireland international Stephen Carr is said to be a wanted man, and for the third season running ... guess who is interested in him? Yep, Celtic (or so we hear from the same guy who has been saying it for 36 months!).
Everton, West Ham, Wolves and Queens Park Rangers have allegedly joined the queue. But when Glenn Roeder and Sam Allardyce said he was available for offer there was not a sniff of interest from anyone.
The former Tottenham defender, who announced his international retirement last year, signed from White Hart Lane in 2004 and has made 107 appearances for Newcastle.
Ashington-born Peter Ramage, who has featured in 68 first-team games, and Australia youth player James Troisi have also been told they can leave.
Apparently Ramage, 24, was offered the chance to stay but has opted to pursue regular first-team football elsewhere.
Keegan: "We wanted to keep Rammy (Ramage) but he wants to play regular football and I couldn't guarantee that here.
"He goes with our best wishes, as does Stephen Carr, who has been a great pro for this club. He wasn't offered a contract and I explained the reasons why.
"James (Troisi) has also gone. He has gone to play for Australia at the Olympics but he has not been offered a contract."
