Carroll's troubled history goes back to the day the England Youth boss sent him packing home when the squad was on tour at Holland.
Preston had him on loan and sent him back to Newcastle due to an "incident" we never got to the bottom of. Regardless, they wouldn't take up the option of keeping him for another three months.
Then there was the "bottle incident" when a teeneager was hit over the head; allegations of him striking out at his girlfriend; breaking Steven Taylor's jaw; and another couple of court cases that came and went.
And allegations of him getting injured falling off a bar stool when he was 'ratted'.
England manager Fabio Capello has now warned the Liverpool striker to watch his drinking.
The Italian boss said he was wary of any potential mishaps Carroll, an England squad member, might have while socialising, and the impact that would have on the former Newcastle striker’s perception in the public as a national representative.
Fabio Capello: “He needs to be careful at every moment because when you play with the England national team you are the focus of the fans, the newspapers, the photographers, the people that live around him.
“Not only Andy likes to drink beer. He needs to improve, to drink less. I spoke with him, in private. He’s young – his behaviour is important.”
