Butt has not played since the 1-0 win over Sheffield United and missed clashes with Peterborough, Preston and Swansea with a calf injury.
Chris Hughton would be a fool to break up the central midfield partnership of Kevin Nolan and Alan Smith ... and he also has Danny Guthrie if need be.
With Fabrice Pancrate in the squad, Hughton has plenty of options in the middle of the park.
Up front, Andy Carroll and Shola Ameobi are also in contention for Watford at the weekend, but Peter Lovenkrands and Marlon Harewood both found the back of the net against Swansea.
Hughton: “At the moment Joey is the only long-term injury concern and he is still on course to come back in the time frame we first set, which is January.
“Nicky Butt is back in training this week and Shola has also been back in after good week of training last week.
“Andy trained today for the first time since Preston.
“At this moment we hope he gets through the training this week.
“He’s now been ill for a fairly long period of time so hopefully he can shake it off.”
