He is accused of assault occasioning actual bodily harm on his alleged victim Michael Cook in the Blu Bambu club on December 7.
He appeared before Newcastle Crown Court to officially enter a not guilty plea.
The Toon striker wore a dark suit, white shirt and black and white striped tie, and signed autographs for fans before the case was heard.
His trial will be held before Judge John Milford in October and will last up to four days.
