Carver was appointed as Newcastle’s head coach until the end of the season last month, and has since made it clear how much he wants the job on a more long-term basis.
Carver insists he is planning with a long-term mindset.
When asked if he thinks long-term, Carver said: “Of course I do, of course I do. Just now I’m getting ready for (pre-season). So I’m not a supply teacher.
“I’ve always thought long-term, long-term, long-term.
“And the conversations I’ve had (with hierarchy) have always been long-term, long-term.
“We’ve had a session on pre-season dates, dates for returning, as obviously it’s a shorter summer break this year.
“And venues, we haven’t decided where we’re going, but we’re talking about different options.
“I think the whole process in football – and this is my opinion – is thinking long-term.
“I could have a contract as head coach for three years and be thinking long-term, but that could change.”
