According to the Sheffield Star, the veteran forward reportedly turned down the chance to sign a new contract at the the New York Stadium, and is now likely to lead the line with Irish striker Cillian Sheridan at Omonia, who start off the new season with a Europa League qualifier later in the month.
Announcing the news, a statement on Omonia's official website read: “Omonia announces the preliminary signing of 30-year-old English striker Matt Derbyshire – who has been at Rotherham United since 2014. The player has been in Cyprus since June 15 and will undergo a medical prior to signing on.”
