John Carver: "I think a working-class background can help a manager. I think it does, yeah, because I have come from nothing.
“That does not mean because I have come from where I have I don’t deserve to be where I am at the moment.
“I think it is important I am a humble person. There is no danger of that.
“I respect everybody because that is how I was brought up. The important thing is making sure there is a relationship and I am trying to get that relationship with the fans.
“In Lee Charnley’s statement it is important to get it across I only want the best for this club.
“I sit down with fans every day. I was at the golf club with some 10 or 11-year- old kids and I was talking about the team. You are having a forum all the time.
“Social media is out of my control.
“What social media does is it gives somebody a voice.
“You might have somebody on social media who has an opinion then it starts a discussion.
“Then all of a sudden Joe Bloggs is given a bit of an ego because he has more followers. It is out of my hands.”
