Pardew will come up against his old club for the first time since leaving St James’ Park at the turn of the year.
The former Palace midfielder has brought stability to the Londoners and victory in midweek will see them move to within two points of Newcastle in 11th place.
Carver has been given the Newcastle job at least until the end of the season, and he revealed he is in regular contact with Pardew.
And the 50-year-old, who was assistant boss at Newcastle to Sir Bobby Robson in his first spell at the club, insists Pardew is among the best coaches in the game.
But. let's be honest. for Carver to call Pardew would be like Carver calling himself! They are 'two peas in the same pod' ... YES MEN!
John Carver: “We speak on a regular basis, we text each other every other day, we’re good friends.
“He gave me the opportunity, and to be honest I didn’t really know him before I come back to the football club. He gave me my opportunity to come back here, so I’m entirely grateful for that.
“He’s been fantastic to work with, I’ve learned so much from him, how to deal with things in adversity is one of the biggest things, but what I have to say is I’ve worked with a lot of top coaches and managers and he’s certainly one of the best coaches that I’ve actually been on a training ground with.
“And that is saying something, and that is being respectful to everyone else, but he is such a hands-on manager he was a coach, but he trusted me when he wasn’t there to get on with the job, which I did, and we had a fantastic working relationship.”
