Woodman and Alan Pardew are big buddies but find themselves going face-to-face with each other on opposing teams at their old club Crystal Palace this week.
Carver is wary that Pardew will have the measure on Newcastle and as the build-up to the game continued, Carver said: “I’ve seen the way his (Pardew) team’s been playing, and he has given them a lot of his own traits. We worked closely on the training ground.
“I know a little bit about his team, and he certainly does know ours.
“He’s also got our analyst (Ben Stevens), who knows our side inside out and back to front.
“He also has Andy Woodman here, who’s his best friend. We’re going to ban him from all the team meetings!
“He’ll have enough information on us, but at the end of the day it’s all about how we play on the night.”
