The French playmaker was dropped by Carver for the trip to Leicester City but could well be handed a place in the team that faces West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
Cabella has been one of the positive voices to come out of the dressing room amid the disappointing run of results of late.
And speaking about Carver to BeIN Sports, Cabella said: “To be honest I get on really well with him (John Carver) even though he didn’t pick me for different reasons. I was meant to play (at Leicester).
“It’s his choice. On Thursday I was in the starting line-up and Friday I was out of it. He watches a lot of videos and he obviously changed his mind – that’s his choice.
“He’s someone that talks to me a lot. We get on, we have a laugh. He talks to me at training. The problem is that we are not winning – we can’t seem to find a way to win. This is difficult for him.
“(On Saturday) in the dressing room it was the same atmosphere as before. He likes to share his thoughts with the players.
“It was tense in the dressing room and that’s not surprising after eight defeats in eight matches.
“I think his reaction was necessary to provoke us into action.”
